Jenny Green

A chartered civil and structural engineer, as ICE Regional Director Jenny is responsible for working with more than 2,000 ICE members in Northern Ireland, enhancing their knowledge, promoting their expertise and helping the public better understand infrastructure.  She works with a wide range of industries, representative bodies, civil servants and politicians, to reinforce the importance of infrastructure to our quality of life.

Jenny spent more than ten years practicing as a structural design engineer, both in London and Northern Ireland, with experience in the design and structural modelling of education, healthcare and residential structures.

Mike Brown

Mike was appointed as the Chair of the Restoration & Renewal Delivery Authority for the Houses of Parliament in mid-2020. This long term programme will see the Palace of Westminster modernised and brought up to the standards needed for it to continue as the home of the UK’s democracy for generations to come.

He is also an Advisor to Mott MacDonald and an Independent Member of their Shareholder Committee.

Mike was the Commissioner for Transport for London, until July 2020. He was responsible for delivering all public transport in the capital as well as overseeing one of Europe’s largest and most complex major investment programmes. 

He led the transport network’s initial response to the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring that critical workers were able to get to and from work and successfully negotiated with the Government the emergency funding necessary for the continued operation of services.

Before becoming Commissioner, Mike was Managing Director of London Underground and London Rail for five years. During this time he planned and delivered the public transport services required for a successful Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012. Prior to this he was Managing Director of Heathrow Airport.

Mike is passionate about the skills agenda, both in his current roles and previously as Chair of the UK Government’s Strategic Transport Apprenticeship Taskforce (helping to create new high quality apprenticeships, from across the country and from every community).

Grant Robinson

Grant, who is currently General Manager at AMEY, has a comprehensive knowledge of the construction industry and asset management service sectors. Grant has extensive experience in setting up and delivering through Construction Joint Ventures, adding value and turnover through large-scale infrastructure projects in contractually complex structures within the context of alternative funding mechanisms.

Over the year’s Grant has managed large scale infrastructure from the BID to Financial Close, through to design and delivery and into the Operations phase, delivering on the  shareholders business objectives. 

Grant has delivered Major Acute, and primary Heath Care Projects in the UK, delivered over fifty education projects from primary/post primary to further and higher education throughout the UK and Ireland.

Grant currently works on PFI Roads projects in the UK and Ireland and has a vast experience in dispute avoidance and resolution including, mediation, conciliation, expert determination, adjudication, arbitration and litigation.

Tara Brooks

Tara Brooks is a senior lecturer at Queen’s University with 20 years’ construction industry experience. She qualified as a chartered Architect at UCL in 2000 and worked in London for companies including Foster and Partners as an Architect and then Associate. She moved to Belfast and in 2010 started working as a Bid Manager in the contracting sector. She is currently the programme director for the MSc in BIM Project Management at Queen’s.

Returning to university as a mature student, she studied part time for an MSc in Construction Project Management at Queen’s, completing in 2014. She gained her PhD in 2020. 

Her areas of research interest include construction quality management, procurement and BIM and emerging digital technology. Tara seeks to bridge academic research, teaching and practice, as exemplified by her participation in successful KTP Projects, including those looking at BIM implementation, digital tool exploitation, and BIM automation.

Paul Wilson

Paul Wilson is Digital Director for AECOM Europe & India. He has over 24 years’ experience working through an integrated project lifecycle with both clients and supply chain for the successful implementation of BIM and Digital Technologies across the globe. Paul works hands-on with teams delivering projects of all sizes and market sectors.  His work to develop strategy for his clients and projects ensures world-class solutions are used for efficient and effective transformational outcomes to AECOMS client’s problems. Paul manages strategy and AECOM’s Digital Business Line Leads and subject matter experts delivering digital & technical excellence across AECOMS business.

Stefan Mordue

Stefan is the Senior Program Manager for Education and Partnerships at Bentley Systems, where he collaborates with universities, colleges, and schools to drive educational innovation through Digital Twins. He is a chartered Architect, Construction Project Manager, and published author. Stefan was a founding member of the CIC BIM 2050 group and participates in several industry and technical standards committees, including the Architects Council of Europe (ACE) BIM Working Group and the CIOB Digital & Innovation Advisory Panel. Stefan has co-authored several books on BIM and has  received awards from CIOB, Leeds Beckett University, Generation for Change, Constructing Excellence, and Digital Construction Live in recognition of his contributions to the construction industry. 

Melanie Dawson

Melanie brings a wealth of practical hands on BIM & Digital Construction knowledge from an extensive and varied construction career over the past 15+ years. She has held a variety of challenging leadership roles over her career to date including strategic management, Head of BIM, Director of Digital Construction through to owning her own BIM & Digital Construction Consultancy company Origin7 Ltd. She is the founding member and Chair of the NI BIM regions group (now part of the UK BIM Alliance) since its inception. Melanie’s leadership has been fundamental in the delivery of many high profile public and private sector projects across the UK, focusing in on driving organisations to deliver by ensuring the right people, processes and technology are in place. Melanie led the first team in the UK to become dual BSi BIM Kitemark holders and was made a Fellow of the ICE in 2018.

She has established a number of BIM training Academies which lead clients, colleagues and supply chain through the use of BIM and digital tools including ensuring the return on those investments. Melanie is the driving force behind many exciting R&D projects in the realms of MMC (Modern Methods of Construction), Data Analytics, VR/AR, and adoption of laser scanning technology. She is currently enjoying working on the client side after many years in the design or contractor teams. She enjoys variety, challenge and the ever advancing BIM & Digital Construction landscape, but most of all making a difference and continually raising the standards as a dynamic leader and bringing others on that journey too.

John Kerrigan

John Kerrigan is an experienced manager with a demonstrated history of working with customers in the Survey, Construction, Asset management and Engineering industry. Skilled in survey & construction hardware & software, Laser Scanning, BIM, GIS and CAD. GeoSurveying graduated of Dublin Institute of Technology (TU Dublin).

Johns’ role is to help organisations understand what Leica Geosystems technology can do for them, bring value to their workplace and improve productivity and efficiency in their daily tasks. John strives to work in a consultative manner and really enjoys seeing organisations thrive after investing in Hexagon/Leica Geosystems solutions.

John is a Fellow of the CICES and a committee member in the Irish region and wants to raise the awareness of the Institution in Ireland as well as mentor new and future members.

Rahul Shah

Rahul Shah is a Sector Development Director at British Standards Institution (BSI). Rahul has worked with asset owners, main contractors, architects, engineers and manufacturers for over 23 years and has held leadership roles responsible for driving digital transformation, innovation, and leading on BIM strategy and implementation programmes globally. During his career Rahul has gained experience of implementing various digital initiatives on a diverse range of projects, including large scale multi-billion-pound urban regeneration schemes through to hospitals, airports, residential, commercial, data centres, mixed-use public spaces, stadiums and metros. 

He has gained thorough understanding of the risks and opportunities faced by today’s global construction businesses while going through digitalization. 

In his current role at BSI Rahul drives digital transformation agenda in the built environment globally and supports clients in Digital transformation, Innovation, BIM, Digital Twin, Smart Cities, IoT, and Information Security and Resilience.

Joseph Mady

Joseph earned a BEng Tech and a BSc in Electrical Engineering Services Design, as well as an MSc in Applied Building Information Modeling and Management from Technological University Dublin, Ireland and MSc in Leadership and Management in UCD Dublin.

Joseph serves on the Construction Industry Federation’s 4.0 Committee (BIM), the NSAI Technical Committee on Building Information Modelling, and the CitA Eastern Region Steering Committee for BIM.

Joseph is accountable for the business’s strategic direction in Ireland, South America, and Europe. Along with his industry involvement, 

Joseph is a part-time lecturer at Technological University Dublin (TUD), where he teaches courses on continuous professional development on Digital delivery for site teams and construction site management course.

Louis Slabbert

Louis leads up and manages the geospatial division throughout DCT. Louis moved from South Africa where he worked as a surveyor and Revit specialist with extensive years of working knowledge in the field.

He has completed a Construction Project Management Course, as well as completed a professional diploma in leadership and management titled “Managing People in Organizations.” He is currently completing a BSc in Geospatial Surveying at Technological University Dublin. Louis brings a wealth of industry experience from his work in the residential, commercial, pharmaceutical, and data center industries.

With nearly a decade of experience in the construction industry, including Dublin Airport Hand baggage upgrade, and WuXi Biologics Dundalk, to name a few.

Nuala Murphy

Nuala leads Diversity Mark – an Awarding Authority on diversity and inclusion across the UK and Ireland accrediting more than 150 businesses and close to 200,000 employees. 

A community builder and connector by nature – she has been a trailblazing leader for the diversity and inclusion in NI – from starting and scaling the Lean In Movement in Ireland, where she is now President Elect of UK and Ireland Council, to her leadership in the Ladies Who Launch movement. 

Throughout her almost 20 years in the corporate world, and her time as an entrepreneur developing an app to support pregnant women and new mothers look after their anxiety and mental health, Nuala has had one big mission – to support those on her team, give everyone a seat at the table and a chance to be heard, starting with the furthest first. 

The Irish Times describes Nuala as one of the “next generation of female business leaders” and earlier this year, she was appointed to the Centre for Democracy and Peacebuilding’s Fellowship Programme along with senior leaders from politics, business and civil society. Nuala is an IoD NI Committee member.

Mark Poveda

Since graduating from the Technological University Dublin in Geomatics, Mark has spent over 20 years working for KOREC developing the Trimble Geospatial and Construction divisions into market leaders. KOREC is one of Trimble’s largest global distribution partners.  Part of Mark’s role is to work closely with the wider Leadership team to set the company’s strategic direction.  

A driven and passionate geomatics professional, Mark has vast experience in business development within the Geospatial, construction, BIM, GIS and Laser Scanning industry. 

Stephen Henderson

Stephen is educated in diverse fields from engineering, marketing, graphics and management. Stephen has over 23 years’ experience within the Engineering Consultancy sector and holds Bachelor’s Degrees in both Business Management and Economics with Post Graduate Diplomas in Marketing, Graphic Design and Design for Visual Communication.

Stephen leads the Digital Delivery and Design team in Belfast and is driving the use of high-end visual design and the adoption of emerging and immersive technologies, such as Virtual and Augmented Reality (VRAR) and web based Virtual Consultation Spaces.

Chris Millar

“Chris attended Ulster University where he obtained his degree in Architectural Technology and Management. He then went on to achieve an award for ‘Best Use of BIM’ which was recognition of his admiration for Building Information Modelling (BIM) in the Built Environment.

Chris is an experienced BIM Manager currently at Translink where he is responsible for the implementation and delivery of the BIM strategy across multiple high-profile projects including an NI Executive Flagship project, the Belfast Grand Central Station. 

Chris brings a wealth of experience to the organisation as he has previously managed and implemented BIM on behalf of the Lead Appointed Party, delivered information in line with client requirements as an Appointed Party and is now developing & documenting the information requirements as the Appointing Party.

Chris’ presentation aims to provide an insight into BIM at Translink and looks at how the strategy has been incorporated to help deliver the largest construction project currently in Northern Ireland.” 

Glenn McCaffrey

With over 25 years’ experience in the construction industry, Glenn McCaffery (BSc Arch ARB) is a registered architect and Head of Digital Construction at McLaughlin & Harvey. Glenn is passionate about BIM and Digital Construction, and has a wealth of experience in Information Management and the delivery of Asset Information Models for private and public sector clients. He is responsible for the digitisation of McLaughlin & Harvey’s processes to align with ISO19650, and chairs the company’s steering group for the implementation of digital technologies.

Glenn also leads a team of Information Managers and Digital Construction Coordinators who support McLaughlin & Harvey’s construction activities, from tender to handover, and deliver meaningful data to the end-users for asset management.

Glenn is also a visiting lecturer for Queen’s University Belfast’s Building Information Modelling Project Management (MSc) programme, and is a member of The Adoption of BIM Collaborative Working Group for SCAPE.

Julie Gibbons

Julie Gibbons is Managing Director of AbbeyAutoline, Northern Ireland’s largest insurance broker. Following the merger of both Abbey Insurance and Autoline, AbbeyAutoline has over 45 years of experience, specialising in Car, Home, Travel, Taxi, Farm and Commercial Insurance. Julie leads the commercial and personal lines teams across Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland and Great Britain.  Julie’s previous experience includes senior management and leadership roles within Microsoft Rubicon Technology and KPMG.  Julie holds an LLB in Law and French from QUB and an MBA from UCD.  Julie is also currently President of Newry Chamber of Commerce and Trade.
