A chartered civil and structural engineer, as ICE Regional Director Jenny is responsible for working with more than 2,000 ICE members in Northern Ireland, enhancing their knowledge, promoting their expertise and helping the public better understand infrastructure. She works with a wide range of industries, representative bodies, civil servants and politicians, to reinforce the importance of infrastructure to our quality of life.
Jenny spent more than ten years practicing as a structural design engineer, both in London and Northern Ireland, with experience in the design and structural modelling of education, healthcare and residential structures.
Stefan is the Senior Program Manager for Education and Partnerships at Bentley Systems, where he collaborates with universities, colleges, and schools to drive educational innovation through Digital Twins. He is a chartered Architect, Construction Project Manager, and published author. Stefan was a founding member of the CIC BIM 2050 group and participates in several industry and technical standards committees, including the Architects Council of Europe (ACE) BIM Working Group and the CIOB Digital & Innovation Advisory Panel. Stefan has co-authored several books on BIM and has received awards from CIOB, Leeds Beckett University, Generation for Change, Constructing Excellence, and Digital Construction Live in recognition of his contributions to the construction industry.
Robin has been lecturing in SETU’s Department of Architecture and Built Environment since 2001. During this time, he has held multiple roles from Lecturing, Course Leadership, Programme Development to Researcher and PI. He co-initiated the SABRE Research Centre which aims to enhance the research capabilities across the Department on all fronts. He is also Chair on the Build Digital Project. Robin has served on numerous accreditation and assessment boards and acted as External Examiner on numerous programs across Ireland and the UK. Robin is currently external examiner at Wolverhampton University and International board member of the PAC at Fanshawe University in Ontario, Canada.
Robin was the successful recipient of a Harvard scholarship to complete an internship at the Renzo Piano Building Workshop in Paris, before working in industry in London and Dublin before returning to complete a Masters in Urban and Building Conservation from University College Dublin (UCD). He holds a PhD from University of Glasgow on Virtual Environments, Reinterpreting the Built Heritage.
He is currently the Head of Department of Architecture & Built Environment and PI on the innovative EPA-funded research project combining digital twin technology with landscape biography methodology for the environmental analysis of a coastal region in County Waterford.
Tara Brooks is a senior lecturer at Queen’s University with 20 years’ construction industry experience. She qualified as a chartered Architect at UCL in 2000 and worked in London for companies including Foster and Partners as an Architect and then Associate. She moved to Belfast and in 2010 started working as a Bid Manager in the contracting sector. She is currently the programme director for the MSc in BIM Project Management at Queen’s.
Returning to university as a mature student, she studied part time for an MSc in Construction Project Management at Queen’s, completing in 2014. She gained her PhD in 2020.
Her areas of research interest include construction quality management, procurement and BIM and emerging digital technology. Tara seeks to bridge academic research, teaching and practice, as exemplified by her participation in successful KTP Projects, including those looking at BIM implementation, digital tool exploitation, and BIM automation.
Mairead is an accomplished architectural professional with a diverse background in architecture, digital strategy, information management, and BIM. She now serves as the BIM Lead for Europe and the Middle East at internationally acclaimed global architecture practice Grimshaw’s.
Previously, Mairead was the Specialist UK BIM Innovation Lead at Buro Happold, where she focused on leading the Specialist Consulting BIM team. She drove digital, computational, and technological innovation across several disciplines such as fire engineering, façade engineering, technology, acoustic engineering, security, and specialist lighting. In this role, she also worked as the Specialist BIM Lead, delivering multi-disciplinary packages on numerous complex global giga buildings and infrastructure projects, closely collaborating with the wider design teams.
Before her tenure at Buro Happold, Mairead worked at Alford Hall Monaghan Morris, one of the top five UK architectural practices. Her 19-year career in architectural practice spans various sectors, including tall buildings, major projects, education, justice, commercial architecture, high-end residential, build-to-rent, retail, and interior design.
Mairead is also a Women in BIM Regional Lead and Women in BIM Mentor, contributing to diversity and inclusion within the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) industry since the inception of the WIB mentor scheme five years ago. As an ambitious individual and working mother, she actively participates in ambassador roles, panel discussions, and advocacy for diversity and inclusion. “
Paul Wilson is Digital Director for AECOM Europe & India. He has over 24 years’ experience working through an integrated project lifecycle with both clients and supply chain for the successful implementation of BIM and Digital Technologies across the globe. Paul works hands-on with teams delivering projects of all sizes and market sectors. His work to develop strategy for his clients and projects ensures world-class solutions are used for efficient and effective transformational outcomes to AECOMS client’s problems. Paul manages strategy and AECOM’s Digital Business Line Leads and subject matter experts delivering digital & technical excellence across AECOMS business.
Grant, who is currently General Manager at AMEY, has a comprehensive knowledge of the construction industry and asset management service sectors. Grant has extensive experience in setting up and delivering through Construction Joint Ventures, adding value and turnover through large-scale infrastructure projects in contractually complex structures within the context of alternative funding mechanisms.
Over the year’s Grant has managed large scale infrastructure from the BID to Financial Close, through to design and delivery and into the Operations phase, delivering on the shareholders business objectives.
Grant has delivered Major Acute, and primary Heath Care Projects in the UK, delivered over fifty education projects from primary/post primary to further and higher education throughout the UK and Ireland.
Grant currently works on PFI Roads projects in the UK and Ireland and has a vast experience in dispute avoidance and resolution including, mediation, conciliation, expert determination, adjudication, arbitration and litigation.
