Melanie brings a wealth of practical hands on BIM & Digital Construction knowledge from an extensive and varied construction career over the past 15+ years. She has held a variety of challenging leadership roles over her career to date including strategic management, Head of BIM, Director of Digital Construction through to owning her own BIM & Digital Construction Consultancy company Origin7 Ltd. She is the founding member and Chair of the NI BIM regions group (now part of the UK BIM Alliance) since its inception. Melanie’s leadership has been fundamental in the delivery of many high profile public and private sector projects across the UK, focusing in on driving organisations to deliver by ensuring the right people, processes and technology are in place. Melanie led the first team in the UK to become dual BSi BIM Kitemark holders and was made a Fellow of the ICE in 2018.
She has established a number of BIM training Academies which lead clients, colleagues and supply chain through the use of BIM and digital tools including ensuring the return on those investments. Melanie is the driving force behind many exciting R&D projects in the realms of MMC (Modern Methods of Construction), Data Analytics, VR/AR, and adoption of laser scanning technology. She is currently enjoying working on the client side after many years in the design or contractor teams. She enjoys variety, challenge and the ever advancing BIM & Digital Construction landscape, but most of all making a difference and continually raising the standards as a dynamic leader and bringing others on that journey too.
Nahid is a RICS Chartered Surveyor with substantial experience managing and leading large construction developments in both the UK and the US. Nahid will be presenting on how data driven strategies within construction consultancies can help drive all round project efficiencies and inform commercial decision making.
Grant, who is currently General Manager at AMEY, has a comprehensive knowledge of the construction industry and asset management service sectors. Grant has extensive experience in setting up and delivering through Construction Joint Ventures, adding value and turnover through large-scale infrastructure projects in contractually complex structures within the context of alternative funding mechanisms.
Over the year’s Grant has managed large scale infrastructure from the BID to Financial Close, through to design and delivery and into the Operations phase, delivering on the shareholders business objectives.
Grant has delivered Major Acute, and primary Heath Care Projects in the UK, delivered over fifty education projects from primary/post primary to further and higher education throughout the UK and Ireland.
Grant currently works on PFI Roads projects in the UK and Ireland and has a vast experience in dispute avoidance and resolution including, mediation, conciliation, expert determination, adjudication, arbitration and litigation.
David Gawley is BIM Director for Pentagon Solutions helping Clients, Designers, Contractors and Supply Chain deliver digital assets efficiently.
David is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers and a Chartered Construction Manager who has worked with digital construction technology tools for nearly 25 years and providing BIM consultancy for 10 years.”
Liam has worked in the field of sustainability for nearly twenty years across the public, private and voluntary sectors. He has a strong background in management systems and compliance and has developed and implemented sustainability strategies for a number of leading UK construction firms. Liam holds a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Management.
He believes that SustainIQ has a mission to help organisations become more data-driven by uncovering the untapped intelligence that sits waiting to be found within any company. The software helps to harness business intelligence from sustainability performance to inform business strategy, helping companies become more transparent and encouraging better business.
Aisling Goff has worked for Mercury for ten years starting her career as a QA Admin on a semiconductor plant. Aisling’s experience is predominantly related to the Data Centre Industry but with some experience in semiconductor.
Aisling has worked in a General Contractor capacity across, Germany, UK, Netherlands, Sweden and has primarily focused on adapting digital elements of construction throughout her career with a strong emphasis on integrating information gathered in the field to our measuring and monitoring of the project.
Raymond is a Chartered Civil Engineer and holds an MBA in Project Management. With a background in construction project management and digital transformation, his career expands over several industries including rail, marine, highways, renewable energy, and construction tech. Raymond worked his way up from an entry-level civil engineer to managing complex renewable energy mega projects and spearheaded the digital transformation on one of the UKs largest rail infrastructure projects. He is passionate about innovation and business improvement to create a sustainable future for his clients.
Mike was appointed as the Chair of the Restoration & Renewal Delivery Authority for the Houses of Parliament in mid-2020. This long term programme will see the Palace of Westminster modernised and brought up to the standards needed for it to continue as the home of the UK’s democracy for generations to come.
He is also an Advisor to Mott MacDonald and an Independent Member of their Shareholder Committee.
Mike was the Commissioner for Transport for London, until July 2020. He was responsible for delivering all public transport in the capital as well as overseeing one of Europe’s largest and most complex major investment programmes.
He led the transport network’s initial response to the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring that critical workers were able to get to and from work and successfully negotiated with the Government the emergency funding necessary for the continued operation of services.
Before becoming Commissioner, Mike was Managing Director of London Underground and London Rail for five years. During this time he planned and delivered the public transport services required for a successful Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012. Prior to this he was Managing Director of Heathrow Airport.
Mike is passionate about the skills agenda, both in his current roles and previously as Chair of the UK Government’s Strategic Transport Apprenticeship Taskforce (helping to create new high quality apprenticeships, from across the country and from every community).
Tom Boland is the Head of Digital Construction and joined Zutec in 2001. He is an experienced building technology engineer and previously held operational roles with several Engineering consultancies in London and a world-leading building control system manufacturer. As an experienced commissioning and completions specialist Tom has lead project commissioning, training, building certification, operational readiness and handover teams at the US$2.3 billion passenger terminal expansion for the Bechtel Corporation at Muscat International Airport in Oman, and a similar role at the US$5 billion passenger terminal expansion for the Taisei Corporation at Doha International Airport in Qatar.
Tom holds a Polytechnic Diploma in Environmental Engineering from the University of the South Bank, London.
Daniel DaSilva is VP of Solution Sales for Zutec. With nearly a decade of experience in construction technology Daniel has in-depth knowledge of best practice when it comes to introducing digital solutions into a company. His experience spans right across mega-projects such as The Shard and HS2 as well as smaller high and low density residential projects. Daniel’s mantra is “every project is different – value can only be extracted from digital tools if configured to suit the exact needs of that project” and he applies that to his engagements across the industry, paying particular attention to the stage each customer is at in their digital transformation. Daniel is based in Portugal and works with Zutec customers across the globe.
A highly accomplished engineering professional, with over ten years’ experience managing public and private sector clients, Raymond is enthusiastic about Quality and enjoys encountering new ideas and challenging projects. Raymond has strong commercial, quality and management acumen developed through years delivering engineering and quality solutions for high profile clients such as Facebook, The DAA, BHP-BMA, SANTOS, FLUOR and he also has an in-depth knowledge in ISO and BCaR requirements.
He has a passion for staying ahead of the game and especially enjoys adopting new technologies and techniques to solve problems that deliver superior results.
Currently spear-heading quality at Cairn Homes, Raymond has taken the country’s biggest house builder to a whole new realm of Quality Management as they continue to scale and deliver superior homes in the fast-paced, ever-changing environment that is the Irish property sector.
In his spare time, Raymond considers himself “a bit of a sports nut” and still travels to play for his home club in Lovely Leitrim.
